Hi, I'm Sy — a data centre technician based in the UK. I spend my spare time working on my cars, building tools and other self-hosting services.
This site is a collection of projects and tools I've built for personal use or to share publicly. Feel free to explore.
About: A simple and lightweight widget to see how many clients are on your website right now. Also features total unique visits today, and highest active vists at one time.
Instructions: Visit the link below to get the code snippet and instructions. Don't forget to contact me to be put on the allow list.
Demo: look at the bottom right of this page for a real demo.
About: A live task dashboard powered by the Vikunja API. Displays prioritised tasks across projects with progress tracking, due dates, and auto-refresh. Perfect for a large portrait display on the wall in an office or a NOC.
Instructions: Paste your read-only API key and Vikunja instance URL to get going.
Security: API token isn't stored on the server. It is stored in an encrypted cookie on your browser and the server only requests it when the page requests an update (which is also configurable).
Demo: For a demonstration of how the dashboard could look for you, visit foxtechnologies.uk/vikunja/demo/.
About: A lightweight REST API for IP address geolocation and metadata lookups. Returns structured JSON for use in your own tooling or scripts.
Instructions: Visit the URL directly to see details from your current public IP, or for example https://ip.foxtechnologies.uk/?ip=123.123.123.123 for the details of that IP.
Security: This service doesn't log any details, but unlike other services, I'm not imposing a limit or pricing on how many times you use it. Details are limited, relative and cannot be guranteed as accurate.
Demo: For a demonstration of how you could use this, visit sno.ms/ip.
About: A silly game where you play as a cat that "pops". Join other cats to "pop" with one another. Eat a mouse that shows up every two minutes so you can eat the other cats and absorb their scores if they are higher than yours.
Instructions: Any key "pops" and arrows or WASD moves around. On mobile, tapping "pops", and swiping moves around.
Security: Cookie based, but also a unique ID stored on the server. No login required and no personal data saved anywhere else.
About: Remember those? Yeah, I still need one every now and then, mostly for work and I made my own so it can be as short as possible and I can control it. I don't want to moderate it, so it's a private tool anyway.
About: Same as above. I needed a quick way to share files between machines, without all the red tape that comes with other file sharing systems. This is also set to private like the URL shortener. Files uploaded expire after 24 hours, but files can be set to last longer from the admin page. The page to download the file shows the file name, time remaining and even displays a short URL using the system above. Test the download portion of this tool with the link below.
About: A simple tool to calculate the subnet of an IP address range.
Instructions: Enter the IP address and subnet to see the range and other details.
Security: Nothing is saved to the server.
About: Other calculators I find useful including unit conversion (Gib to MB, kg to lb, mph to kn, and more), data transfer time calculator, and a fuel cost calculator.
Security: Unlike other services, these are calculated in your browser and not sent to a server.
About: An alternative file mirror for popular Linux distros, useful tools, and more.
Instructions: Being based in the UK this should provide a fast alternative at a pinch.
Security: I take no responsibility for the contents of these files. Download at your own risk.
